Laboratory vessels

dishesLaboratory vessels
properly shaped objects made of thermally and chemically resistant materials, most often glass or porcelain, used to perform laboratory activities.

The basic laboratory utensils are:

Measuring cylinder
glass vessel for measuring the volume of liquids with little accuracy.

Conical flask – Kolba Erlenmeyera,(!) erlenmajerka
universal glass vessel, especially suitable for long-term heating of liquids, for agitating reactions by shaking and for dissolving metals in acids. It is not applicable to the precipitation of sediments, because extracting them is difficult.

Funnel
glass vessel for pouring liquids into vessels with a narrow filling opening; The filter funnel should have an apex angle of 60 °, so that the filter adheres to its walls.

Mortar
porcelain vessel for grinding hard substances, for mixing powders by grinding, for grinding powders and liquids into a paste or paste.

The steamer
porcelain vessel for the evaporation of excess liquid in the concentration of solutions and crystallization.

Test tube – (!) test sample
glass cylindrical vessel for carrying out reactions in small volumes. The liquid column in the test tube should not be higher than 3…4 cm, so that the substance can be mixed by shaking without clogging the opening, e.g.. finger.

Spray bottle
vessel consisting of a glass spherical flask and glass tubes, used to rinse sediments or solution residues from the walls of the vessels and to wash sediments on the filter.

Beaker
glass universal laboratory vessel, suitable for most jobs.
