img24DEPOSITION METHODS OF STONE-FORMING COMPONENTS. These methods consist in precipitating calcium and magnesium from water with the use of appropriate chemical compounds. The precipitated compounds are separated from the softened water by settling in settling tanks and filtering. The most common chemical compounds - sodium carbonate - are used to soften and purify water by sedimentation of stone-forming components; sodium hydroxide; trisodium phosphate; whitewash; barite water; aluminum sulfate; ferric chloride; sodium sulfite; sodium chloride. ZEOLITE METHODS. These methods consist in softening the water by using zeolite or inorganic softeners, be organic (organoliths).
